Kinetic Systems Launches BEMS LoRaWAN Demonstration Suite

Kinetic Systems officially launches its BEMS specific LoRaWAN demonstration suite at its HQ in Brighouse, West Yorkshire.

What is LoRaWAN ?

LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) is a low-power Internet of Things (IoT) communication technology that is growing in popularity and is becoming widely used in Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) to connect wireless sensors and other devices throughout a building.

Typical applications include energy sub-metering, temperature and humidity monitoring, CO₂ and indoor air quality sensing, occupancy detection, lighting control, water leak detection, asset tracking, predictive maintenance, and utility monitoring.

Why use LoRaWAN ?

Compared with wired systems, LoRaWAN enables faster and more cost-effective deployment by eliminating the need for extensive communication cabling, making it particularly suitable for retrofitting existing buildings.

Its long-range coverage, low power consumption, multi-year battery life, and ability to support large numbers of connected IoT devices make it highly scalable. This allows building operators to gather richer operational data, optimise energy performance, reduce maintenance costs, improve occupant comfort, and support their sustainability and carbon-reduction objectives.

Managing Director Barry Greenwood commented:

“The LoRaWAN protocol has enabled a wide range of innovative energy management and building optimisation applications, with both the number and sophistication of these solutions continuing to grow rapidly. Our engineering team has fully embraced this technology and has undertaken extensive testing of LoRaWAN-enabled IoT devices to assess their accuracy, reliability, and ease of integration within the BEMS solutions we deliver. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with the technology proving its value across a variety of applications.

We are confident that LoRaWAN IoT devices can play a significant role in helping our customers achieve their operational, sustainability, and energy efficiency objectives. To demonstrate these capabilities, we have developed a comprehensive demonstration suite at our Brighouse headquarters, where visitors can experience the technology firsthand. Live remote demonstrations can also be arranged for customers who are unable to attend in person.

We believe LoRaWAN represents a genuine step change in the way buildings are monitored, managed, and optimised, making it a true game changer for the industry.”
